Mercy Corps is dedicated to educating, inspiring and empowering new generations of young people to fight global poverty. We are a global humanitarian agency with a global engagement team working towards accomplishing our goals through a series of complementary programs that teach young people about global poverty and connect them to real opportunities to make a difference.
The Global Citizen Corps Leadership program is national network of high school student leaders working to educate and mobilize their peers in efforts to end global poverty.
Each year, Mercy Corps selects a diverse group of passionate and committed students to become Global Citizen Corps Leaders. Following an intensive training, either in person or online, Global Citizen Corps Leaders network with each other and receive tools, resources and support through an innovative Online Action Center, a private section of www.globalcitizencorps.org. Turning their learning into action, Global Citizen Corps Leaders implement a series of Global Action Days in their schools and local communities which raise awareness about global poverty, generate media attention to spread the word, and mobilize their peers in effective campaigns.
Hear what parents & teachers are saying:
"Being in the Global Citizen Corps is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It will open the doors to the world for your child."
Michelle Costello, Global Citizen Corps Leader Parent
"The Global Citizen Corps tackles the hard to conceptualize global issues that often leave students struggling to connect to their own lives. The Global Citizen Corps training gives students insight into how these issues both affect them and what they and their school communities can do to effect change."
Melanie Smolev, Global Citizen Corps Faculty Advisor, Henry Street School, New York, NY
"The Global Citizen Corps was fun for me too! I learned right along with my child and look forward to continue learning. I even motivated my friends to learn and become more involved."
